Holyrood Election. Alliance to Liberate Scotland.

Alliance to Liberate Scotland

Who are the Alliance to Liberate Scotland?

Ken McNeil, an Alliance candidate for the Holyrood election, came along to our Glasgow & Milngavie Group to tell us more. Ken spoke for about 20 minutes then Mary McCabe opened the meeting for questions.

Topics covered:

  • background to the Alliance to Liberate Scotland (ALS)
  • different groupings within the Alliance
  • standing candidates for the Holyrood election
  • aims of ALS in this election
  • why stand candidates and risk splitting the independence supporting vote?
  • why did Independence for Scotland Party (ISP) withdraw from the Alliance?
  • the reports of some ALS members having links to the far-right, is that true?
  • 5% in a Regional List vote would probably give you a seat, but is that likely?

Ken engaged with us very keenly. He heard support for ALS from some among us and some definite doubts and reservations from others. Thanks for coming along, Ken. We appreciate it.

This is the last of our meetings with guests from the Parties standing for election in Holyrood. We’d like to thank all of them for their willingness to engage with us. You’ll find recording of all these meetings in our blog. And thank you to the IndyPodcasters for working with us to make these meetings more widely available!
