Virtual Burns Supper – bring your own haggis!

Greater Glasgow Pensioners for Indy Group held our first ever Burns Supper on 25th Jan. And things being as they are it had to be done online.

Our singers, musicians, reciters and speech-makers gave their all from their own sitting-rooms and they created a very enjoyable evening. Forty people joined us from all over Scotland and one guest “jetted in” from Boston, Massachusetts.

This was the order of proceedings for the evening:

It has to be admitted that we had some technical glitches that hit the proceedings for a wee while, but we sorted them out for the most part and carried on….. so some of performances came in a slightly different order. Robert’s slide presentation had all the words and I’m sure I wasn’t the only person singing along – muted of course! We had two impromptu Open Mike contributions from Sheila reciting A Man’s A Man For A’ That, and from Marlene reciting Tae A Louse, with the help of Bev and his gardening hat!

Some of the performances are now up on Soundcloud. You can listen to them here. Unfortunately the zoom sound recording wasn’t quite good enough for some of the singing and instrumentals. .

We have some video of Marlene and Bev’s recitation of “Tae A Louse” …..
